Let me tell story of the ReMake from the boy-scout's belt. I have got the leather boy-scout's belt from Mr.Top Pipat. I wanted to make a dog collar for my Gut chung (my dog). The old collar was already too old. Beginning with sizing Gut chung's neck and let some space for insert the belt loop. And I used the buckle and belt loop from the old collar.

After cut it,then put the buckle and belt loop together and ream it to fit the pin of the buckle.see picture;
